Swiftwater Rescue Course
Every spring, Wild Blue Yonder Rafting offers a 16-hour Swiftwater Rescue Course (Level I & 2) through the Royal Life Saving Society. This course is mandatory for our guides to have, and the course is also open to the public. Download the course outline or watch the video!
Level I teaches river dynamics, safety and self-rescue techniques. Level 2 includes advanced skills and rescue techniques for assisting others; it's recommended for white-water kayakers, rescue teams and guides. It's a good course for Search & Rescue organizations, and we have also trained Canadian Rangers. Here's an article written by a Ranger who took the course in 2014.
